Happy 3rd Birthday Grayson!
I can not believe that my sweet, rambunctious, little man is officially 3! It seems like it happened overnight.
Okay, minus all the moments he loses his mind, colors on the walls, screams, and won’t go to bed, those moments don’t seem all the far away!
But still, it is very true when people say enjoy when they are little because the time flies by so fast.
Grayson’s 3rd birthday was such a fun and low key day that I will always remember.
Prepping For Grayson’s 3rd Birthday
Let The Wrapping, Balloons, and Cleaning Ensue
Cleaning
Which is a constant task at our house with two little boys!
Once Grayson fell asleep, which was later than normal, which I attribute that to the excitement for his birthday, it was time to get the birthday stuff ready!
My first step was to clean up the mess of toys and kids things strewn all over the living room. Once I had the room in order it was time to assemble all the presents for wrapping.
Wrapping Birthday Presents
With Paper And Bows!
I realized when I reached the last and largest present that I hadn’t bought enough of his birthday wrapping paper. The only other wrapping paper I had was in Mason’s room. I didn’t dare go in their and chance waking him up.
So I improvised and wrapped the top of the large box so that it looked like it was fully wrapped. I will say that he didn’t seem to notice at all that the box was half wrapped.
Birthday Balloons
Grayson Absolutely Loves All Things Balloons!
Once the presents were wrapped and set out on the ottoman, where were normally put them for birthdays, it was time to blow up the balloons.
I bought him this large set of “Happy Birthday” balloons, which was larger than I thought when I took it out of the wrapping.
I began my marathon balloon inflating process by using the straw that came with the balloons. Inflating each letter one at a time. I will say when I got to the last letter, I was somewhat lightheaded.
Of course, Kevin sat on the other side of the dining room table “working” and watching me exhale all the air I had in my body. Which he says he knows I have plenty to expel, good thing he doesn’t quit his day job for comedy!
Once I was done blowing up all the Happy Birthday balloons, it was time to hang them.
After some deliberation, we decided that they looked best over the fireplace. So with a little tape and some knots, it was time to start on the normal balloons.
So after all the balloons were inflated and everything was set, just right, it was time for me to go to bed! Or at least start the process because there is always that 30 minutes that get away from you as you mindlessly meander on your phone.
Grayson’s 3rd Birthday
Happy Birthday To You, Happy Birthday To You, Happy Birthday Dear Grayson, Happy Birthday To You!!!!
Poor Google sang him “Happy Birthday” about a thousand times!
Birthday Morning
The Beginning Of The 3rd Birthday Celebration
Grayson woke up at his normal time around 7ish. He was definitely excited to look over the balcony to see what awaited him downstairs.
After getting a glance at all of his balloons and presents waiting for him downstairs, he decided to venture down the stairs himself. Which is different from his usual “Mommy hold, Mommy hold” request in the mornings.
He made it downstairs and was into his presents before Kevin and Mason could even make it down the stairs.
He started tearing right into his presents though I tried to encourage him to wait for Daddy and “B” the excitement overtook him!
Grayson loves all things trains and trucks right now. So we decided to get him a wooden train layout that he has seen to add to the little layout that he currently plays with that he got from Santa. We also got him some STEM work trucks that he can screw together and mix and match the parts.

Before assembling all of Grayson’s new toys, we let Mason open his little present.
Which ended up being a hit for both of them. The vibrating singing ball was more entertaining than I initially thought.
Any time one of the boys has the ball, the one without it wants to play with it too.

Birthday Breakfast
Only Sprinkles Will Do!
I began the process of opening all of the boxes and getting the pieces together while Kevin headed to the donut shop down the road for Grayson’s birthday breakfast surprise.
When Kevin came through the front door with the donut boxes, Grayson had an idea as to what his surprise was. Though when he opened the largest box, he was delighted to find a giant sprinkle donut, which is his absolute favorite!
The donuts were from Holtman’s Donuts, which is close to our house.
He was a little confused about the fact that the donut was to cut and share. This was quite evident when he decided to pick up the whole donut and proceed to lick it, gross! Sharing is still a fluid concept for some of us. Goals for the year being 3!
I will say Mason truly enjoyed his small sampling of the giant donut. I’m sure when he turns 1 in two short months, he will absolutely love his birthday cake!
After having breakfast and putting Mason down for his morning nap, Grayson spent most of the morning playing with all of his presents.
The living room was, as it usually is, a chaotic mess. Train pieces were everywhere, mixed with trucks and all of the other plethora of toys that we already owned.
Birthday Afternoon
Party till nap time because the nap is still key at 3!
Once Mason woke up from his nap and everyone was finally dressed for the day, Grayson couldn’t wait to bring his new trucks outside to play.
He set up his trucks by the mulch in the front flower bed so he could dig and make a mess, of course. I will say Kevin wasn’t all that thrilled.
Though, it was actually not that hard to just sweep all the mulch back into the flowerbed when he was done playing.
Birthday Treats
Because the donut is not enough for a birthday, there must be cupcakes and cookies too!
We finished Grayson’s 3rd birthday off with some more of Grayson’s favorite treats, cupcakes, and cookies. All of which were adorned with sprinkles, of course. He also helped me make all of them minus the icing part.
Grayson has become my baking buddy. He absolutely loves to sit on the counter and pour the ingredients into the mixing bowl. When we are not using the stand mixer, he also likes to “help” Mommy stir. Christmas cookie time this year will be a real blast for him.
We enjoyed the low key day at home as a family celebrating our little monster turning 3. Sometimes the most memorable days are the ones with no plans, just a day spent at home celebrating together!
Happy 3rd Birthday
Grayson Michael!
I wish you all the love in the world and can not wait to see what the year being 3 has in store for you. Watching you grow to this point has been such a joy, and I can’t wait to see all the new things you accomplish in the year to come.
