Anything that sounds like a train looks like a train or might be a train is right up Grayson’s alley. He loves all things TRAINS, or as he calls them “Coo Coo’s”! We recently spent a weekend at my Grandmas lake house in Lake Erie.
I’m pretty sure there were about a million trains that ran through the area. Grayson would inform everyone when one would go by.
He would grab his ear, point outside and proceed to scream “Coo Coo”. EVERY time without fail.
After about the fifth train the cuteness of it ran out. It made me extremely thankful that we do not live close to any trains!
A Trip To See Trains
This was a guaranteed hit for Grayson!
After going to the lake I knew that a trip to the Lebanon Mason Monroe Railroad would be a huge hit for Grayson. Even though it wasn’t currently operating for rides because of the current coronavirus outbreak. We were still able to see the trains and walk around.
To say that Grayson was excited doesn’t even portray the pure joy in his expression when we arrived! He could not wait to be freed from his car seat to go explore all the trains.
Though, he wanted so badly to go explore inside them. We tried to explain to him that we could only look at them from the outside. Which is quite hard for an elated two and a half year old to comprehend!
The Caboose
He was able to sit on the platform of the caboose which joy does not do his excitement justice. If we would have let him he would have stayed there for hours.
Of course, poor little Mason was just along for the ride. But as normal he loved being outside and seeing new surroundings.
Restoration In Progress
As we walked along the tracks we got to see people working on restoring one of the train cars. We got to stand and watch them work diligently which we found interesting.
I’m sure they weren’t as thrilled as Grayson was. Especially the guy lying under the train working on some mechanics since it was quite warm that day.
It was a really nice day just walking along looking at the trains at our own leisure. We were really the only people there at the time except for the people working on the trains.
It is a memory I will treasure forever. Reveling in Grayson’s enjoyment of just being able to look at all the trains! I’m sure soon enough Mason will be right there with him basking in the delight of all the trains.
Future Plans
I am sure there will be multiple trips back to visit.
Someday we would definitely like to take a train ride there. I especially think that the North Pole themed ride would be lots of fun for all of us! It was such a quaint little train station with lots of old restored trains.
I would recommend anyone who has a child that loves trains and lives in the Lebanon/Cincinnati area check it out sometime!
