The Boy’s Bathroom Makeover
There was nothing theoretically wrong with the boy’s bathroom/guest bathroom per se. The bathroom just didn’t have much life to it. I felt like it needed a little more color and some sprucing up! It needed a little bathroom makeover.
Picking Out Paint For The Bathroom Makeover
How All Good Bathroom Makeover Projects Begin. At Least In My Opinion.
So off to Lowe’s, we went on another home project adventure. We picked out some colors to see what we liked best.
Kevin of course does not like to just look and buy! He’s more of the philosophy that we have to look, bring home a swatch, and then decide.
The theory is fine, don’t get me wrong, but I will say there are times that I have decided on the color at the store and it stayed the color even after bringing home other color choices to choose from.
Time To Paint The Bathroom
Anyway, we decided on a mint green/aqua color. Kevin patched the walls and prepped them for painting. The bathroom isn’t very big but there were a lot of obstacles to paint around.
I guess just because the room is smaller doesn’t always mean it’s easier to paint. Especially with a ladder in a small space.

A New Light Too
While we were painting Kevin also replaced the builder-grade lighting that was still there. We added a three-sconce brushed nickel light fixture. It definitely was brighter and made the room feel more complete.
Finding The Finishing Pieces For The Bathroom Makeover
My favorite part of any project.
Once the painting was done it was my turn to finish things up. We needed a towel rack, a new shower curtain, and rod, some type of storage for over the toilet, and of course some decor! The search was on.
A List Of All My Finds – The What’s & The Where’s
Target
Shower Curtain
Soap Dispenser
Toothbrush Holder
Hobby Lobby
Bathroom Picture – At some point I want to add a picture of the boys over the towel rack area.
Home Goods
Shower Curtain Rod – The best place to find inexpensive nice shower curtain rods.
Shower Curtain Hooks
Towel Rack – We changed out the hooks that initially came with it for ones from Lowes. I really liked the wood piece of the towel rack but not the hooks. Which was an easy fix
Kohls
Three-Tiered Metal Bin Storage
My Own Little Touch
I guess you could say my attempt at being “crafty”!
After hanging the metal bins though I realized they were a little too plain and the metal was somewhat harsh looking.
So off to Michael’s I went, to buy some ribbon to weave through the metal slots. Because of course, ribbon makes all things better!
I definitely played around with the pattern and placement before settling on my ribbon specifics. After finishing my “project” and hanging it up I felt like the shower curtain and ribbons went really well together. It definitely gave the bins a more fun appearance!

Bathroom Makeover Complete At Last
Well, at least for this part of the bathroom makeover. There are more changes to come.
My collection of goods completed the bathroom, at least to this point. As with all of our projects we still have quite a list of things we would like to do to the bathroom.
We would like to replace the laminate floors with tile. As well as replace the vanity since all of the vanities in the house are very short and plain.
At some point, we would also like to replace the mirror with something framed and the toilet too. All in good time I suppose!
