I have to say besides washing bottles I can’t NOT wait till I am done with diapers. There is something depressing about buying a box of diapers for $40. Knowing that you are going to just throw them away.
I know diapers serve a purpose but still, it is somewhat saddening. Especially with two in diapers at the same time. But as with anything this too shall pass!
Introduction To Pampers
With both boys, the hospital supplied us with Pampers Swaddlers. Which is what we continued using pretty much for all of Grayson’s first year.
We lived by the notion if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. I had no issues with the diapers and liked them overall.
When I went to Sam’s Club I always saw Pampers Cruisers. One day decided to give them a try since you got a few more diapers per box for the same price.
I never had an issue with them either. But that was about as adventurous diaper wise that I got.
When You Realize Somethings Got To Give
At least for the time being. Until one is potty trained, but that is not even on our horizon, believe me!
Well once Mason came along we were buying double the amount of diapers plus his formula. I decided at this point that something had to give.
There are so many diaper options out there and just as many different opinions on which is best. I realized that when it comes to diapers you either love one brand or the other.
It seemed like there wasn’t much gray area for a lot of people. It seemed like people were in one camp or the other.

Trying Huggies
My first diaper experiment try.
I was ordering my next shipment of diapers off of Amazon. They had a deal for Huggies at the time so I decided to test them out. I bought the Huggies for Grayson, to see what we thought, and stuck to Pampers Swaddlers for baby Mason.
For some reason changing diaper brands felt like cheating on your hairdresser. Which sounds absolutely ridiculous! Because, HELLO, they are just diapers. I guess I was sure with what I knew!
So Grayson was excited when the Huggies arrived and they had Mickey Mouse on them. A true selling point for him!
I have to say I didn’t have any issues with the Huggies and definitely would use them again. I never tried the Huggies on Mason so I’m not sure of how the Newborn diapers are but the size 6 was fine.
Not In Love With Luvs
I couldn’t get past the powdery scent of the diaper.
I ended up needing a couple more diapers for Grayson before I was out of Mason’s diapers so I ordered a small bag of Luvs diapers from Kroger. Just to try them out since I was feeling adventurous at this point.
Well, I didn’t even want to use them because when I opened the packaging the smell was awful. I couldn’t bring myself to throw the diapers out though so I left the packaging open in the closet downstairs.
I will say that I did use the Luvs for an emergency since they were downstairs. Once they had aired out they definitely were fine and I had no other issues with the diapers. Grayson has worn them occasionally. Never overnight so I can’t comment on that aspect.
The next time I went to get diapers was at Sam’s Club. There was a deal on the Pampers so that is what we got. Then when we needed diapers yet again, the vicious unending cycle. I was back on the trail for looking for a diaper deal.
Giving Up & Up A Try
Since at this point in my diaper journey, why not?
I decided that I would try Target Up & Up diapers this time around. Since you got twice as many diapers for half the price of Pampers. I absolutely love them! They are cute, soft, don’t have an odor, great absorption, nice fit, and all-around have become my go-to diaper.
My husband’s only complaint was that you had to double pull the tabs on the size 3 diapers. I informed him that a double pull for half the price is no deal-breaker for me! Unless there is some drastic change in the Up & Up diapers I will be using them from now on.
Wipes
They are definitely an important part of the diapering process. Because let’s be honest, there is nothing worse than a bad baby wipe in the thick of an extreme blowout!
As for wipes, I have always used Pampers Sensitive. I did try a large box of the Huggies wipes when I ordered Grayson’s Huggies Diaper. Just because they were part of the diaper deal and the fact that I desperately needed wipes at the time too.
They were awful in my opinion. The issues I had with them were they didn’t clean well and were very rough feeling. At least compared to Pampers Wipes.
After trying Up & Up diapers and really liking them I did buy a box of the Up & Up wipes. I actually really like them too.
They are very comparable to Pampers wipes and again at half the price. I will also be using them from here on out as well.
Lessons Learned
There is always a lesson to be learned.
Once I expanded my diaper horizons I realized that all diapers have their pros and cons. At the end of the day, you throw them away! So Up & Up are here to stay!
Can you tell that I spend a lot of time with children? Rhyming has become a past time of mine even when discussing diapers and wipes!
Though I have to say I do love Pampers too. If I wasn’t buying diapers for two I would have probably never ventured away from them.
So if the cost is not a factor than I would stick with Pampers. But price-wise, I really do like the Up & Up brand and would recommend giving them a try.
