Taking little toddlers trick-or-treating before they could walk and talk was something I just personally never wanted to do. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with it at all. I suppose it was just the notion that the people knew good and well that this little guy would be eating absolutely ZERO of this candy. Let’s be honest! Regardless, when I did start taking the boys trick-or-treating I realized how much fun Halloween costumes could be.
I say “could” because let’s be honest it’s typically you wear this outfit one night. Unless the costume can then be turned into a “dress-up” outfit or you can use some piece of it for normal day wear. But that’s far, few, and in between. The first Halloween that we bought Grayson a costume we ended up getting him a blue baby shark costume from Target. This costume survived the gauntlet of two little boys. Both the boys wore this costume and for more times than just Halloween. The best part about it was it was a “body suit” and they were nice and warm when they wore it.

The Beginning of the Best Halloween Costumes
The first Halloween that we took the boys trick-or-treating with a “real” costume, aka one they chose, Grayson wanted an inflatable costume. There’s no shocker there. Poor Mason was too young to care so he wore the well-loved baby shark costume. As I started looking on Amazon for inflatable toddler costumes I was pretty impressed with the plethora of choices they had. I have to say the hilarity of most of them made me so excited to pick one.
Eventually, we settled on the inflatable dog costume. My stars alive I tell you he loved this costume and it was hilarious. The amount of laughter and joy this costume brought us was beyond measure! To this day he still puts this costume on from time to time and I can’t help but laugh as he waddles! There is one downside, of course, the batteries! That puppy ate batteries. However, the absolute joy he got out of it and the laughs we had were well worth their weight in batteries!

I love this video of Grayson “waddling” around in his inflatable dog costume and Mason in his “doo doo” costume. There is something about tails that Mason can’t get enough of! 🙂
This video to this day makes me laugh! It’s moments that you video and at the time don’t realize how funny they are until you watch them years later. I will say that these are two costumes that I would highly recommend for any toddler who loves inflatables or baby sharks. Just make sure to buy lots of batteries!
Onto The Next Toddler Halloween Costumes
I will say it was really hard to beat the inflatable dog because it was so large and obnoxious but cute at the same time. So when we started looking for Halloween costumes again we were also on the prowl for a new couch. As we were going from furniture to furniture store there were “wind guys” at most of them. The boys thought that was the best part of furniture shopping. Which was a problem because they were ready to leave right after we arrived.
Since there were fresh memories of “wind guys” in Grayson’s mind he made the connection that he would like to dress up as one for Halloween. I didn’t think that anyone would make such a thing. But of course, good ole Amazon had some.
It was hard to decide which size to order but with the order in Grayson was full of anticipation for it to arrive. Of course, when it arrived Grayson had to put it on immediately. It was a little too long which was an easy fix. It had a black strip on the bottoms so I just trimmed it off and voila.
Mason on the other hand had no interest in an inflatable costume. He wanted to be a dinosaur! Which encompassed all the requirements he had. I found a dinosaur costume similar to the “doo doo” body suit on Amazon. At the time this was great because it kept him warm. Nowadays when he wants to put it on it is slightly annoying to have to maneuver him in it and zip it up! I mean that is a minor inconvenience. When I get to the point of annoyance with the dinosaur costume it “hides” somewhere out of sight! 🙂
Oh The Halloween Costumes To Come
Just like all the other costumes we’ve owned these have been loved way outside the confines of Halloween! It is fun to see both of their personalities and preferences take shape as they grow! I am excited to start looking for their costumes for this year! I know Grayson will want something Minecraft-related and of course inflatable. My guess for Mason will be that he might want an inflatable costume this year that is either dinosaur or Minecraft as well!
